What are your top 3 priorities for county commission?

“My top three priorities are investing in our public schools, expanding housing opportunities, and promoting transparent, responsive government.
First, we need to invest in our schools by improving aging facilities and giving teachers the support and compensation they deserve. Second, we must address housing affordability through smart growth, expanded housing options, and infrastructure that keeps pace with development. Finally, I believe government works best when it is transparent, accessible, and responsive to the people it serves.”

What would you do as a commissioner to help the city and county work together toward a shared vision?

“While Hamilton County and the City of Chattanooga have different responsibilities, they often share many of the same goals. As a commissioner, I have always encouraged open communication and strong partnerships, and I will continue to do so wherever collaboration can help move our communities forward. From affordable housing and workforce development initiatives to tourism and economic growth, there are many opportunities to work together. Building a shared vision starts with good-faith conversations and following through on our commitments.”

What can the county commission do to ensure that development reflects the needs and input of our communities?

“It is often misunderstood that the County Commission can control what property owners do with their private property. What we can do is make sure growth is planned responsibly by ensuring that roads, utilities, schools, and other infrastructure keep pace with development. Just as importantly, we should listen to residents and consider community input as we plan for future growth.”

What is your most unpopular opinion?

“My most unpopular opinion is that eggs should never be in cornbread. If your cornbread needs eggs, you're making cake.”
